Cincinnati VR dates back to 1946, when a manufacturer named Chomienne launched a machine tool business in Villeurbanne. In 1959, the company was renamed Cincinnati-Chomienne following its partial acquisition by the American giant Cincinnati. After several restructurings (Cincinnati Milacron, then taken over by executives in 1992 to become Cincinnati DCLF, then Cincinnati CA), the company was finally relaunched in 2008 by Guy Vincent and Patrice Rivier under the name Cincinnati VR, relocating production to Chambost-Allières.
